A hearing before the House Vehicles & Safety Committee on HB5031 (Rep. Mary Flowers’s helmet bill) is scheduled for Wednesday, February 24th at 10 AM. It will be in Room 115 of the Capitol. Here are the members of that committee:

Please contact these individuals and let them know that helmets are not the answer because they do not reduce accidents. Only education does that. We are interested in safer motorcycling, not safer crashing.

This will be the 4th hearing on helmet bills this week.
Things are happening hot and heavy; so, we need to be sharp and involved. Whether you can come to Springfield or not, everyone needs to contact their representatives and let them know where we stand.

If you can possible get off work, please come to Springfield on both Tuesday and Wednesday this week. We can meet at the hearing locations shortly before the committee sessions start. Here is a summary of the hearings scheduled this week in Springfield:

Senator Donne Trotter has 2 helmet bills (SB2535 & SB2536) scheduled to be heard before the Senate Public Health Committee on Tuesday, February 23rd at 1 P.M. in Room 212 in the Capitol.

Senator Ira Silverstein’s bicycle helmet bill (SB2627) is scheduled to be heard before the Senate Public Health Committee on Tuesday, February 23rd at 1 P.M. in Room 212 in the Capitol.

Rep. Mary Flowers’s anti-ATV / dirt bike for youth bill (HB5029) is scheduled to be heard before the House Elementary & Secondary Education Committee on Wednesday, February 24th at 8 A.M. in Room 114 in the Capitol.

Rep. Mary Flowers’s helmet bill (HB5031) is scheduled to be heard before the House House Vehicles & Safety Committee on Wednesday, February 24th at 10 A.M. in Room 115 in the Capitol.
